The universe exerts a very special fascination on us. Mostly it seems far off, but at TU Berlin it is within our grasp. At the Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, scientists and students have been conducting research on small satellites for 30 years, making TU Berlin one of the leading universities in the world in this area. On 1 December 2023 at 19:19 CET, satellites 28 and 29 were successfully launched from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California with a SpaceX Falcon 9 launch vehicle. The two satellites are part of the NanoFF project, which differs from other satellite projects in a number of respects. It has its own propulsion system and will operate in active formation flight. Watch this exciting video from the Nano FF team to find out what this means and learn about the other innovations on board the nanosatellites.
