The Cairngorms contain my definition of trail gold, and this year with travel restrictions limiting global travel I set out my way to explore more of Scotland. The Cairngorms mountain range and national park has been my go-to for big days out.

For this particular ride, I planned a two day epic, 105km and 2000m of climbing and descending. Starting out in Braemar and riding to Aviemore, spending the night and returning the following day. This was going to be ‘My First Overnight MTB Ride.’ I’d planned it out using @komoot and it was going to be filled with epic descents and stunning scenery.

Over the two days we discovered true trail gold but had to work for it, watch on to see how we tackled it..
