Spring season highlights your Liver energy. If your Liver and Gallbladder energy channels are blocked or not flowing well, it can cause a tendency toward migraines and other symptoms (see the Reel on our grid 2 posts back, “Signs Your Liver Energy is Out of Balance”).

Headaches can be caused by disruption in various organ energy channels, but migraines in particular tend to be due to blocked Liver and Gallbladder energy channels. A classic sign of Liver/Gallbladder type migraine is when it is one-sided, or affects the sides of the head.

This set of points is very commonly used in acupuncture practice to relieve migraine headaches. If you don’t have access to an acupuncturist, you can try doing Gua Sha on these points at home. I recommend stroking each point for 1-3 minutes. The stronger the headache, the more time you should spend at each point.

As always if you have chronic and severe migraine condition please consider finding an acupuncturist for more personalized help. Acupressure and Gua Sha at home can be an effective and useful starting point for relief, but you may also require additional support.
