China has launched the Qinling Station, its fifth Antarctic research station, located in the Ross Sea region, to bridge gaps in scientific understanding of this area. Designed in the shape of the Southern Cross constellation, this modern station has an area over 5,000 square meters and provides a new generation scientific investigation platform. Key features include data synchronization based on satellite communications, advanced intelligent operational systems, and a commitment to green and environmental standards, incorporating a wind and solar energy microgrid management system. The station will focus on oceanographic observation and research, readjusting environmental changes in Antarctica, and conducting outreach in atmospheric science, glaciology, geology, and space physics. It also fosters international cooperation with nearby research stations from Italy, Germany, South Korea, the USA, and New Zealand.
