I've been to Houston a couple of times since my move to Texas.

On my first trip, a friend and I visited Bayou Bend Collections and Gardens. The house contains one of the finest collections of American furnishings, silver, ceramics, and paintings and the gardens cover 14acres!

We also went to the Breakfast Klub, known for their signature seasoning and dishes. They are recognized as one of the best breakfast restaurants in the nation!

On my second trip, another friend and I spent most of our time in the historic district which boasts 19 museums and numerous parks and gardens!

Our first stop was to the Cockrell butterfly center. Here you can find hundreds of species of exotic butterflies and insects.

We then made our way to the Houston’s Museum of African American Culture. They feature local artists and when we came, it was Sanah Brown-Bowers. Her aesthetic merges whimsical and realistic styles to tell her story and the stories of others. I was especially intrigued with how she paints her subject’s eyes. Not only are they very realistic, but it’s almost as if you can see deep into their soul!

Our next stop was to the Holocaust museum. This is the first Holocaust Museum I've ever visited and what stood out to me is that we often focus on the concentration camps, but the breakdown of Jewish society included laws taking away their rights to hold certain jobs, restrictions on what they could publish, and the overall animosity towards them created by the Nazi party.
Walking through this museum shows the horrors of what happens when we as a society are conditioned to de-humanize a group of people.
For some footage, I ended up contacting the United States Holocaust Musem directly. There was a lot of presuare to do justice to these people's stories and accurately represent the horrors of the Holocaust while still making it appropriate for YouTube.

We then checked out some of the surrounding parks and Houston’s Waterwall which towers 64 feet in the air!

I may end up going back to Houston to check out NASA, and if I do, I’ll take you along with me!
