Lexus and Infiniti will tell you from bitter experience that taking on executive-car heavyweights like Audi, BMW and Mercedes at their own game is nigh-on impossible, such is the stranglehold that the German 'big-three' have on that sector of the car market.

However, if there's one company that should be up to the task it's corporate juggernaut Stellantis, and that's precisely the task facing the DS 9.

Stellantis? DS? Don't worry, you're forgiven for being in the dark. Stellantis is the huge conglomerate that now owns multiple car brands such as Peugeot, Citroen, Vauxhall, Fiat, Jeep and several others. DS is another of those brands, and it's a French luxury marque that was once a part of Citroen's portfolio, but which has now been spun off into its own separate entity.

The DS9 is a more avantgarde alternative to popular executive cars such as the Audi A6, BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class, and offers luxury, practicality and quality, all rolled up in an exotically styled saloon-car package. But is it any good?
