The world needs a rapid test for COVID-19. In response to this pressing need, a team of researchers in the Republic of Korea have created a transistor-based biosensor that rapidly detects the COVID-19 virus, SARS-CoV-2, with high sensitivity. This short animation describes how the team created the device and how they demonstrated that it responds to the presence of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein and the COVID-19 virus.
