Justin Jefferson, OPOY in the Year of Our Lord 2022, caught freaking EVERYTHING last season, including 35 first-place votes (and 192 points, whatever that means) for his AP honors. He's only 24, and just 610 yards from passing Pro Football Hall of Famer Lynn Swann on the all-time receiving yards list. So NATURALLY, Kwesi and the Vikings brass want to wait longer to extend him 🙄 because according to Adam Schefter: “Vikings’ All-Pro WR Justin Jefferson is not expected to sign a contract extension before Sunday’s opener, per sources. Both sides made a strong effort to get a deal done, but the plan now is to revisit after the season.” (Tweet, September 9, 6:11 p.m. EDT) Damnit.

Jefferson caught 128 passes (seventh-most in a season ever) for 1,809 yards (sixth-most in league history) and eight touchdowns in 2022 (left a few TDs on the table from inside the 2, but we'll get 'em back. He ALSO caught a two-point conversion, rushed four times for 24 yards and a TD and completed both of his pass attempts for 34 yards, leading the Vikings to an improbable 13-4 record under first-year head coach Kevin O'Connell and the franchise's first playoff appearance since 2019. We do NOT need to discuss the Wild Card round against the Giants. It happened. That's it.

Anyway, it was one of the best seasons in NFL history by a wide receiver, and my man is getting PAID either way. Better be the Vikings who do it.
