The 2025 Alfa Romeo Tonale is anticipated to see minimal alteration in its second year on the market. The Tonale debuted in 2024 as the brand's first subcompact crossover, with standard plug-in hybrid technology and a degree of performance not typically associated with this class of car.

We anticipate that the 2025 Tonale will continue to provide copious amenities and aggressive styling for buyers who value performance over usability. This is not to suggest that the Tonale is unworkable. It can seat five people and transport up to 22.9 cubic feet of freight, greatly beyond the capacity of a sporty passenger vehicle.

With the rear seat folding, cargo space increases to 50.5 cubic feet, which is plenty for a subcompact, independent of performance capability. Standard amenities are expected to continue over, including a 10.25-inch touchscreen, fully digital instrumentation, heated power front seats, power-folding side mirrors, a heated steering wheel, automatic wipers, and remote start.

The Tonale is powered by a 1.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine plus an electric motor. This arrangement now has a six-speed automatic transmission and produces 288 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. All variants have all-wheel drive and an adjustable suspension system. According to Alfa Romeo, the Tonale can go up to 30 miles on electricity alone after a full charge.

The Tonale's three trim levels, Sprint, Ti, and Veloce, are set to continue in 2025. The Ti model includes a motorized liftgate, adjustable suspension dampers, and access to luxury and technology enhancements. The Veloce features an Alcantara inside, styling upgrades, and distinctive 19-inch wheels.

The Tonale's driver assistance features, which include adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, automatic high beams, road sign recognition, automatic emergency braking, rear parking sensors, and blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, are likely to remain unchanged. Surround-view cameras, speed limit help, and an autonomous parking system are all likely options for the Tonale in 2025.

According to the current production plan, the 2025 Alfa Romeo Tonale should arrive at dealers in spring 2024. Pricing will most likely begin about $45,000, including destination, and rise to around $52,000 for the Veloce.

The Tonale competes against subcompact luxury crossovers such as the Volvo XC40, BMW X1, and Audi Q3.
