We test out the Setec adapter that allows Tesla vehicles to charge on CCS DC fast-charge stations in North America. It's the first adapter of its kind available in the North American market.

During the video, I wonder why there is such a huge discrepancy in the power delivery reported by the Electrify America charging station and the car, which was about 10 kW. That's because about 9 months ago, Tesla started charging Supercharger users for the total energy dispensed by the station, not the net energy that made it into the car's battery, as they previously had been charging for. I thought they then changed the car's software to display the total energy it was taking in during Supercharging, but they didn't. The car still displays the net energy and that's going to be much lower with the car's thermal management is running.

That was the cause of my confusion. The car still only displays the amount of energy making it to the battery and the 10 kW difference was due to the thermal management system heating the battery and also the cabin heater. Both of which were on because it was cold; about 30 degrees (-1C). Problem solved.
