If you are coming in for a cardiac catheterization, we want you to know what to expect! In the lab, the doctor will thread a thin, hollow tube called a catheter through the arteries and veins to reach the heart. Then, contrast dye is injected through the tube, and X-ray is used to find out if you have any blockages. Treatments can range from medications and lifestyle changes to stenting or surgery.
