The compact pickup is back. The 2022 Ford Maverick slots in below the F-150 and Ranger with a $21,490 base price and fuel economy of up to 40 mpg. It comes in one body configuration—a four-door crew cab with a 4.5-foot bed—and with a choice of two engines. The standard hybrid 2.5-liter inline-four makes 191 horsepower and scores that big 40-mpg fuel-economy number on the EPA's city cycle—but it's only available with front-wheel drive. The optional 250-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four can be had with front- or all-wheel-drive.
