After a car accident, Mr. Geyer was rushed to the emergency room and diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury and respiratory failure. During a partial craniectomy surgery, doctors removed a portion of Mr. Geyer's skull to relieve pressure from the swelling on his brain.
When Mr. Geyer transitioned to Cornerstone Specialty Hospitals #Conroe, he couldn't stand or hold up his head and needed a tracheostomy tube to help him breathe. He relied on our rehabilitation team for all mobility and self-care activities.
In the first phase of Mr. Geyer's treatment plan, he built leg strength with the MOVAO mobile leg press and learned to walk 150 feet with minimal assistance. After four weeks of intensive rehabilitation sessions, Mr. Geyer could walk over 1,000 feet independently and breathe without the support of a tracheostomy tube!
Mr. Geyer was discharged home and will continue to rebuild his strength through outpatient rehabilitation!
