Director's Statement: “I wanted to deal with issues like illiteracy and unemployment in a very realistic and natural way, focusing more on the relationship between father and daughter in these situations. The gritty realism of European cinema, the beauty of poetry and the importance of the family values was what I was aiming to show in the screen, using the drama between an old fashioned father and his passionate teenage daughter as the backdrop. These two opposite human beings who clash all the times finally realizing that they need each other to be happy, but they are just too proud to admit it. A father always wants what is best for his daughter but most of the times they do not realize that. So, I wanted to take the viewers in this journey to understand these characters and not see any of them as antagonists, using the poem that the daughter writes, about a tulip growing in ice, as a metaphor for their relationship.”
