An unidentified American is being held in a jail in Nuremberg after he was arrested several weeks ago, no charges have yet been filed against the man, but he’s been investigated for knowingly infecting his homosexual lovers with the AIDS virus. Maybe known for one of the first criminal prosecutions involving the spread of AIDS. It’s a case that has outraged the gay community.

Although this case was not that similar to that Marc Christian’s civil lawsuit against Rock Hudson’s estate at the time, for Rock had passed away and Marc Christian tested negative, the two still had something in common. Whether the AIDS victim had the right to keep his disease a secret from his partner. Whether he had the legal obligation to inform his partner his illness. If he failed to do so, whether should he be charged for the term “knowingly” or “intent”, had not only moral obligation but also legal responsibility. As time goes by, maybe it’s still worth rethinking about.
