The Subaru Telescope in Hawaii has a 24/7 live stream of the night sky. Here are 55 meteors captured in 2 hours around midnight.

This is a test of a new automatic video pipeline we're working on. It's not finished yet so we'll be making improvements over the next few days and weeks. The intention is to develop an unsupervised process which can detect shooting stars and upload a video of what was found. This means the video is not edited by hand, so there will be a lot of times where the detector sees a satellite or some other noise instead of a real shooting star.

This video is noisy because we are not using image stacking to smooth out noise in the image. This makes the video rendering process run faster while we work on improving other parts of the system. We might make the videos less noisy again in the future.

We are not counting the shooting stars in this video because that currently requires manual editing in order to ensure accuracy. We might start counting the shooting stars again in the future.

We recorded 1 hour of video at 8:00 pm and again at 3:00 am, and scanned for shooting stars. There may have been a few shooting stars too faint for our detector to find.
