Sky News host Peta Credlin says there are “deep-seated concerns” COVID-battered small businesses could be hit with supply chain issues ahead of Christmas.
“The United States is in the grip of a fresh economic crisis with virus induced supply chain bottlenecks leading to empty shelves and soaring prices,” she said.
“It’s causing American consumers and the Biden administration a world of pain. Worryingly there are now signs Australia could be next."
This comes after Endeavour Group - the company behind Dan Murphy's and BWS - warned they were experiencing difficulties sourcing products from overseas suppliers.
“It’s not just high-end whiskeys and champagnes, chardonnay and all of that in short supply ahead of Christmas,” Ms Credlin said.
“There’s also deep-seated concerns amongst COVID-battered small business about their own supply constraints and concerns about cash flow bringing in the goods.”
Ms Credlin discussed the issue with the Australian Retailers Association's Fleur Brown.
