Who would have thought slugs could be so unique?
Discovered only a few year's ago, this massive neon pink slug, Triboniophorus aff. graeffei, is only found on top of an extinct volcano in the western plains of New South Wales in Australia.
It is a fungivore, eating mushrooms, mould and moss. When Stephen Axford and Catherine Marciniak of Planet Fungi visited the mountain it was a wet and chilly day – horrible for their camping trip but perfect conditions to see and learn about this elusive and very rare pink slug .
