A barrier to entry for having a green in your back yard is going to be the cost. So, I wanted to break down what I've spent to this point on my green, including equipment, seed, sand, accessories, and the annual maintenance costs for the green to try and help you determine whether or not this is something that fits into your budget.

For me, I've purchased 3 greensmowers, 10 tons of sand, a myriad of accessories, and some bentgrass seed. In addition to that there is the ongoing equipment maintenance and products that you'll need to maintain a green at the highest level. All in I've spend a little over $3200 on one time costs including mower purchases and the first service, and anticipate spending about $600 annually on the green for fert, PGR, fungicides, sand, and ongoing mower maintenance.

I truly believe anyone is capable of doing this, so long as you can find something that is going to fit within your budget.
