As the lowest-priced sedan in the Genesis lineup, the G70 is the brand's entry-level vehicle, but it's far from basic transportation. It features a luxurious cabin with a modern design and materials that give it the look of a much more expensive sedan. Its resume is further enhanced by a long list of standard features, such as front and rear heated seats, a 10.25-inch infotainment screen, a heated steering wheel, and numerous electronic safety systems. The G70 doesn't skimp on performance either, as it comes standard with a 300-horsepower turbocharged, four-cylinder engine coupled to an eight-speed transmission and rear-wheel drive. If that's not enough, there's an optional twin-turbo V6 that boasts 365 hp. Stepping up to the more powerful model adds variable-ratio steering, 19-inch sport wheels, and enhanced drive modes. All-wheel drive is available with either engine, making the G70 capable of handling cold-weather climates as well. All versions of the G70 deliver the kind of ride and handling expected in a premium sedan, with minimal cabin noise and quick responses to driver inputs. The G70 isn't the sportiest sedan in the segment, but it can hold its own on a twisty road and delivers an impressively smooth ride on the highway.

There are a number of strong competitors in the segment, most notably the BMW 3 Series, which is largely credited with introducing the idea of the small, sporty luxury sedan. The G70 measures up to the 3 Series in both size and performance, although the BMW feels lighter on its feet. Other competitors to consider are the Audi A4 and Mercedes-Benz C-Class, both of which offer excellent performance and top-quality cabins. Like many German sedans, however, the Audi and the BMW feel cold inside compared to the G70, which has softer lines and warmer colors. It's also worth noting that none of the G70's competitors can match it for value, as it combines a low base price with an extensive list of standard features.
