In this video we'll be going on a spring morning trip to Riva, a charming lakeside hamlet in northern Italy!
Located on the inner western shore of Lake Como, Riva is a small (and a bit cramped) place. There isn't much space available here, since the lower slope of the nearby mountain becomes steep fairly quickly, leaving only a tiny amount of relatively flat area near the lake.
That being said, this hamlet is incredibly beautiful nonetheless!

The view of the western branch of Lake Como is just mesmerizing on a sunny spring day like this one, while imposing mountains surround the area seemingly on all sides.
The narrow road of the hamlet makes its way between the houses and the few parking spaces, connecting it from side to side.
While on your way to the far end, where the road ends, you can see the harbour, the docks, the ferry stop and the local lido (beach club).
Quaint old buildings and scenic villas are dotted around wherever there is enough space for them, giving this place its busy and crowded look!
A gorge can also be found here, known as 'Orrido di Faggeto', but it was currently under maintenance when this video was recorded.
What are we waiting for? Let's check it out!

P.s.: from the road near the shore three staircases head up the mountainside, leading you to three mountain hamlets: Molina, Lemna and Palanzo.
These hamlets, together with Riva, make up the town of Faggeto Lario. That being said, they are quite distinct from each other and at first glance appear like separate villages.
In fact they actually were in the past: Molina, Lemna and Palanzo were their own municipalities until 1928, when they merged together into one.
