The Honda Civic is the car that made Honda a household name. The Civic's available in multiple body styles, and its broad appeal has kept it near the top of best-seller lists for decades. For 2022, Honda has given its top-rated compact sedan a redesign that maintains many of the features and traits that have made the Civic one of the most popular cars on the streets today. This is our review of the newly redesigned 2022 Honda Civic.

Honda has given the 2022 Civic a fresh new look inside and out. For the exterior styling, Honda went a little more conservative than the previous generation. That could be good or bad depending on your sense of style. The cleaner lines give the Civic a typical sedan-like profile, while the pronounced trunk lid and taillights give it a more conventional look from the rear. With the removal of the fake vents and the return to a more traditional grille, the new Civic feels like a Civic again.

The interior is as spacious and functional as ever in the new Civic. Aiming for a more conventional look, Honda jettisoned some cool features such as the sliding armrests and fighter-jet instrument panel. Screens and buttons are easy to reach and within easy view, with a typical front center stack design and a touchscreen perched atop a low dashboard. One piece of flair Honda did add was the honeycomb-pattern trim piece that stretches from the center stack to the passenger door. It's a nice addition that gives the Honda Civic some much-needed personality on the inside.

Driving the Honda Civic has always been a pleasure. The 2022 Civic is quick, and the turbo-engine model we tested did 0-60 mph in 7.9 seconds. The sporty handling allows the Civic to slice and dice those curvy mountain roads, even if it can get a little bumpy sometimes. Honda must've been listening because the Civic's outward visibility has improved dramatically from the previous years. The front roof pillar has been moved rearward and thinned out to provide a better view through left turns. The view out of the back is on the narrow side, but the rearview camera removes any guesswork when you're backing into a spot.

Honda's full redesign of the Civic for 2022 just reinforces what we already know. It's hard to go wrong with a Honda Civic. Honda's long-running sedan offers a great-looking car, a spacious interior with good tech, and a sporty and comfortable driving experience, all wrapped up in a decent price. The small sedan market is packed with competition from the likes of the Mazda 3, Kia Forte and Toyota Corolla, but the Honda Civic still leads the pack with its combination of excellent performance, modern features, practicality and comfort. This is our review of the redesigned 2022 Honda Civic.
