From Season 1 Episode 7 “Consenting Adults”: Whilst Alex conducts a standard tutor removal, the patient has an adverse reaction to the anesthesia and slips into a coma. Whilst in a coma, she meets Charlie and confides in him about her arranged marriage and religious beliefs. Meanwhile, Joel performs surgery on Karn, whose self-implanted horns have become infect, even though it is against his wishes. Charlie’s ex-wife Dawn returns to check on Charlie’s condition, unhappy with his progression she reveals that she is petitioning for a DNR (Do Not Resuscitate) order.
