Before we can install the Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) flooring, it is crucial that we properly prepare the subfloor. We'll go through how to deal with sagging or rotten spots, eliminate squeaks, and get a level finish.

By taking advantage of the plywood subfloor and the crawl space access below, you can support and secure partially damaged sections of flooring without having to cut and remove old material.

We chose to use thin set mortar to smooth out the floor rather than a self-leveling product because our house has a slight slope, and it would have been challenge to contain. Using thick incompressible sheets of material such as asphalt shingles to fill in dips is another approach that could save time.
