Around 2 million people in the UK have a food allergy, but have you ever heard of someone being allergic to water? 23-year-old Niah Selway, from Hastings, was born with the rare skin condition, called Aquagenic Pruritus. It means that if her skin comes into contact with water she has a severe extremely painful ‘scalding’ reaction, which can last for hours, with no effective pain relief. And it’s not just having a shower that she has to be careful of - Niah can’t go on holiday because she is scared of sweating, she can’t go outside in the rain and she can’t even get emotional because tears will spark physical agony. Niah joins us, alongside Dr George Moncrieff, to tell us more.
