For All Mankind season 2 episode 9 has been released on Apple TV+. We picked up with the Marines on the Moon bringing the cosmonaut they shot back to Jamestown Base. The doctor is trying to save his life. On Earth Ellen (Jodi Balfour), Margo Madison (Wrenn Schmidt), and General Bradford (John Marshall Jones) are trying to assess the situation.

Things move fast in episode 9 which is fitting for the penultimate installment of season 2. The DOD has taken over the Pathfinder mission Ed Baldwin (Joel Kinnaman) explains the new mission to his crew giving them the opportunity to resign, but neither step aside. Ed tells his family he has to leave, and pushes his wife Karen (Shantel VanSanten) to tell him what’s bothering her before he goes. He learns that she slept with another man which leads to a big fight.

In episode 9 Molly Cobb (Sonya Walger) seeks out alternative treatments for her impending blindness. This drives a wedge between her and her husband as he fears she’s being reckless. They almost split up before she changes her mind abandoning her plan of seeing a questionable doctor in Mexico.

On the Moon Tracy (Sarah Jones) and Gordo (Michael Dorman) start to rekindle their relationship. The Soviets come to Jamestown to retrieve the body of their fallen comrade, and are upset that they can’t move the man who survived. He eventually wakes up and when he realizes his inside the American base alone tells them he wants to defect.

On Earth the Soviets launch their Buran shuttle, and US intelligence learns that it’s armed. NASA launches Sea Dragon 17, and Pathfinder follows with an air to orbit launch. The Apollo Soyuz mission is on hold until JSC gets word that Soyuz has launched. By the end of the episode Pathfinder is escorting Sea Dragon expecting to encounter Buran. Apollo and Soyuz are following their mission plan, and trouble breaks out at Jamestown Base on the Moon’s surface.

A group of armed cosmonauts approach Jamestown and shoot out one of the command center’s windows. This causes a loss of pressure killing one American astronaut when he is pulled out into the vacuum. The team of cosmonauts enter the base, and episode 9 ends there. This sets up the conflict for the season 2 finale next week.
