Kidney Failure is often referred to as multi-organ failure. When the kidneys are unable to work effectively, dialysis is performed to remove waste products and other excess fluids from the blood. This procedure can save a person's life. Dr Abdul Waheed Khan, Senior Consultant- Nephrology, Brahmananda Narayana Multispeciality Hospital, Jamshedpur, will talk about Dialysis and its types.
Dialysis is a procedure that assists the kidneys with smooth blood filtration. It is an artificial process for cleaning/filtering blood and purifying it. It is carried out to help the patient in leading a trouble-free life.
Dialysis has two distinct types:
1. Haemodialysis: This is an artificial procedure performed in hospitals. It is completely painless and helps you live a healthy life.
2. Standard Home Dialysis: This is another painless procedure performed at home. This type of dialysis is for people who find it challenging to visit hospitals regularly due to hectic work schedules.
If you've been experiencing swelling in your legs or an uneven flow of urine, this might indicate a problem with your kidney function, visit a hospital near you.
