TRAIN WITH ME: https://tf2strength.programs.app/

The other weekend, I did what many refer to as "send it" and pulled a max deadlift, then ran an un-prepped half marathon right after.

My goal for the day was to simply have fun and see what I could do without a ton of planning or crazy prep work. For me, I love seeing what my body can do with stuff like this because it highlights how well training is often going.

Could my numbers be better here with training? Probably, but I'm also a fan of just seeing what the body can do when you throw tasks at it like this.

For context, I strength train every week, and I run 1-3x a week, but not marathoner mileage, but I was impressed with how my body held up.

My cardiovascular system had no issues with the demands of the half marathon, and my heart rate stayed relatively low — what did me in was my CALVES.

Through miles 1-9 I was averaging between 7:30 to 8:30 then the calves hit...on the Austin half course the last 3 miles are straight hills and that was BRUTAL.

The calves and Achilles are an area I don't take lightly when they start getting tight or feel restricted so I eased up and finished out around a 9:06 pace.

At the end of the day, this was a BLAST and I can't wait to tackle more feats like this in 2024.
