In the Men's Individual Archery final at Tokyo 2020, Turkey's Mete Gazoz and Italy's Mauro Nespoli faced off in a thrilling match that went down to the wire. The two archers were evenly matched, with the score tied 4-4 after the first four sets. In the shoot-off, Gazoz held his nerve to hit a perfect 10, while Nespoli's shot was just outside the target's inner ring, giving Gazoz the gold medal.

It was a historic victory for Gazoz, who became the first Turkish archer to win an Olympic gold medal. The bronze medal was won by Takaharu Furukawa of Japan, who defeated Brady Ellison of the United States in the bronze medal match.
