Hallensia | Gebrüder Decap | Antwerpen | big street organ

 Published On Mar 17, 2023

Visually, the "Hallensia" is not one of the typical street organs, which were intended to make the amusement businesses of the fairs even more attractive from the second half of the 19th century onwards. But in terms of sound, volume and functions, it can certainly compete with many of them. It was not built for the funfair, but as a one-off for private use by Decap. It was driven by an electric motor in combination with a pneumatic system, and the sound carrier was a perforated cardboard book made of folded cardboard segments with 92 pitches. In this special version, wooden organ pipes, timpani, drum, rattle, wooden blocks, cinellas and a directly controlled chromatic accordion can be heard.
