Honestly, there is no one size fits all answer to this but in some situations, like Chris has discovered today, it is a definite no.
We have worked in property for over 15 years and personally use cladding in some of our own properties. That is because;
โ It reduces condensation
โ Itโs easy to clean
โ It looks smart
Butโฆ
It is not a perfect fit for all situations.
Especially, in downstairs bathrooms; it can gather water from any upstairs leaks which means water remains gathered above the ceiling long after the leak is rectified and can result in ongoing water damage and issues with leaking into your property long after the fact.
So, our ๐ง๐ข๐ฃ ๐ง๐๐ฃ๐ฆ and points to think about when deciding if cladding is right for your property:
๐คAre there any pipes or possible leak risks behind the cladding?
๐คIs it necessary or could other solutions such as changing the extractor fan be a more effective solution if condensation is a problem?
๐คIf itโs a lower bathroomโฆ think again.
