In Gaza, treating children with no surviving families

Dr. Aldo Rodríguez, a surgeon with Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) in Gaza, performed surgeries on 20-25 people per day at Al-Aqsa Hospital. Many of them were children.

"Several cases caught my attention," he said, "especially two babies, one and two years old, with traumatic leg amputations. They were the only survivors. We began to use a common English term—"wounded child from non-surviving family" [WCNSF]. It means that the child's whole family dies in the bombing. The baby or child was the only one who survived. A child without a family."
