There were a lot of pretty incredible days over the course of eight movies- but there is nothing quite like the first day of magic on set. The scene was full of excitement and nerves from the crew behind the movies and of course, all the special actors - many of whom were acting for the first time. This of course proved to have its own challenges. Since acting and being on set was new for so many, they learned the hard way that not everyone is fluent in movie-making lingo. As far as professionalism goes, the actors did struggle at times for sure, not realizing they were required to focus while doing a scene from start to finish!
Everyone felt the pressure, but Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint all had a particularly rough go. Grunt got shy in his trailer while prepping while Emma Watson tried to speak clearly while wearing very awkward buck teeth. As for the boy who lives - Radcliffe had a pretty major secret on set that both helped his performance and made it impossible for the actor to work long term! This had a whole lot to do with why the young actor was sporting very muggle-looking sunglasses on the scene up until the very moment they needed to film! When he was performing, Redcliffe sometimes got a bit too excited and jumped on his cues, throwing himself off the groove.
While it wasn’t always smooth flying - Matthew Lewis probably has a lot to say about that - this day was like no other and the actors had some pretty special experiences, it’s no wonder their performances were so great!
