Meet Natsumi, one of our 12 #BeatTheClock champions. The clock she’s beating is the estimate from the World Economic Forum that it will take 131 years to achieve gender equality. Natsumi isn’t going to wait for that.

“Over time, I’ve learned to value my mom’s efforts. I will never refuse to be my mom’s main support.”

The oldest of seven siblings, Natsumi is super-involved in raising her brothers and sisters and understands the responsibilities of motherhood all too well. For the many teenagers in her community who look up to Natsumi, her advice and opinions are priceless.

In this short film, Natsumi speaks candidly about life as a daughter, sister, role model and mentor in a community where one in five adolescent girls is pregnant, the second highest incidence in the country.
