Der stille Berg (original title)

Another largely overlooked high production value movie.
Set into the first world war, the movie depicts to my knowledge,
the highest altitude battle to date - in the Alps.
To movie is nicely balanced between the combat and character development/story
scenes on both sides.

My favorite character was the Italian Captain - thus, that tiny clip at the start to show why.
He was a dreadful person, but entertaining to watch in a movie - like the drill sergeant from Full Metal Jacket (1987) played by the late R. Lee Ermey. Not quite in his level, but entertaining nevertheless.

The movie is beautifully shot with many scenic view to awe your eyes. Combat isn't particularly bloody, but still has a sense of realism.

Although it is basically a love story, it hasn't got any nudity and you can tell that it was meant to be
touching family movie. Normally I would be bored to death by such a movie, this one surprisingly
similarly to the Pearl Harbor (2001) managed to keep me "entertained" even during the non-combat scenes.

Well worth your attention, I highly recommend!
