How we went about replacing the fabric for one of our Carefree of Colorado SOKIII slide topper awnings with new fabric from Tough Top Awnings.

Last fall we had one awning that pulled loose from the rail on the side of the RV when we were on a trip to Florida. We were fortunate to be able to manage the issue by holding the awning as the slide moved in and out.

When we returned from the trip, we pulled the awning off the coach and found a local upholstery repair shop that works on autos and boats. There was also extra material on the slide roller so we were able to trim off the damage material. They also double stitched the fabric. Because the SOKIII has a cover, the repaired awning looked like new.

When we removed the broken slide topper, we also discovered that the stitching was "gone" from all 4 of our other SOKIII slide toppers. Fast forward to 3 weeks ago. As we prepared to de-winterize our 5th Wheel we decided to get the other awnings repaired. Three of the 4 remaining awnings had sufficient fabric to allow us to remove them and get them repaired like the first one. The 5th slide didn't have extra fabric.

We ordered the replacement from Tough Top Awnings on a weekend and the package arrived quickly by UPS.

Hope this video gives you some insight into how to tackle this DIY project.
