Tamil Heritage Trust's in-person Talk in Tamil is scheduled for 5.30 pm on Saturday, September 17, 2022.

The speaker, 'Sarithira Semmal' S Krishnamoorthy, speaks on "Tholkappiyamum Nadukal Kalvettukkalum" (Tolkappiyam and Hero Stone Inscriptions).

Sri Krishnamoorthy will introduce the tradition of Hero Stones in Tamil Nadu and explain the significance of the inscriptions found on them in the context of the Tolkappiyam, the ancient grammatical treatise of Tamil. He will describe some examples from the 100+ Hero Stones of the Pallava times as well as others from Pandya and Chola periods and also share his experences from the field research he has conducted in this area.

Mr. S. Krishnamoorthy retired from the Tamil Nadu Government Archaeology Department. He has collected thousands of manuscripts for reasearch. He has written and published several books on Hero Stone inscriptions and copper plate inscriptions and has participated in several excavations. He has been conferred many awards, including the Uvesa Award, Tamil Ilakkiyam Forum Award and the title of "Sarithira Semmal".
