Over 90% of non-working women in major cities in Iraq, like Baghdad, Basra, and Nineveh, believe it’s OK for women to work outside the home. Still, only 10% of Iraqi women who want to work actively search for opportunities. A World Bank study in 2021 about social norms related to women’s work found that men may underestimate the level of support the community in Baghdad, Nineveh, and Basra have for women’s work. 35% of men believe that others in the community accept women’s work, whereas in reality, 73% of men are OK with it. القوى العاملة النسائية في العراق — ما العناصر المهمّة حقاً؟
