A bulky or puffy coat or jacket can create a loose harness fit that does not safely restrain a child. Take the Coat Test to find out if your child’s coat is too bulky for the car seat!

Alternatives:
-Put the coat on backwards over the properly tightened harness (like a Snuggie)
-Use thin warm layers like a fleece jacket over long sleeves
-Keep a blanket in the car to use over the thinner fleece jacket
-Use a car seat poncho over the harness
-Warm up the car whenever possible
