GV. Teams lined up for inspection by Sir Anthony Eden, Foreign Secretary. SCU. Anthony Eden shaking hands with English team, & SV. English Captain is Billy Wright. GV. Crowd. GV. England with dark shirts kick off and gain a free kick for obstruction. It is quickly taken and game gets under way. SV. German reserves and officials watching as Germany swing into attack. SCU Germans combine nicely, outside left is cleaned through but Bert Williams throws himself at Beck's feet averting almost certain goal. SCU Crowd reacting. GV England moving the ball towards German goal. SCU English footballer (possibly Bill Slater) running through with ball, he shoots. SV Slow motion, Fritz Herkenrath, goalkeeper, diving through the air as the ball goes just past the post. CU German officials watching as Stanley Matthews receives ball. SCU Matthews racing along the wing. Gerd Harpers throws himself at Matthews. Matthews stumbles but gets his centre. Werner Kohlmeyer is there to stop him. LV Jupp Derwall handles free kick awarded. SCU Crowd. LS Len Shackleton taking free kick. Herkenrath hurls himself out of goal, misses ball which bobs around goal area until Matthews crosses it and Bentley head it high into the net for England's first goal. Pan as players congratulate SV Crowds cheer, & SCU. Half time score - England 1, Germany 0. STV. Matthews taking a corner. He makes a short pass to Shackleton, he back heels to Matthews. Matthews calmly waits for Alfred Beck to challenge him, beats him, dribbles along the goal line, the ball is headed clear. GV Shackleton receives, begins an amazing dribble through the German defence but the goalkeeper throws himself at Shackleton's feet. Shackleton hits the ball just a little too hard and he is unable to catch up with it, although faced with an open goal. SCU Crowd applauding. LV Tom Finney running in with the ball. Herkenrath dives at his feet. He pushes the ball out but it goes straight to Ronnie Allen who steadies himself before shooting and scoring England's second goal. LV Crowd cheering.



STV. Matthews with the ball - he shuffles in - beats Kohlmeyer, centres but the goalie is there to punch away. GV Other end. Germany attacking. SCU Crowd reacting as Uwe Seeler gains possession LV Seeler running with ball - he draws Ron Staniforth before passing to the unmarked Alfred Beck. Beck works the ball back into the centre before firing in a terrific shot which beats Bert Williams for Germany's first goal. SV Williams looking at ball in the net. STV. Germans in the crowd cheering wildly. LV Matthews with three men marking him dribbling away, & SV German defence managing to scramble ball away. GV Two defenders taking the place of the goalkeeper (who has helped in the scramble) watch as the ball sails over the goal. SV Crowds. LV Lead for Shackleton's goal Shackleton dribbling his way through the German defence & SV Shackleton calmly tees the ball over the advancing goalkeeper. Pan with ball as it enters the net. LV Crowd cheering. Score: England 3 - Germany 1. SV Matthews back on the job. SCU Matthews rounding Kohlmeyer. He centres. LV The ball is punched clear but bobs around until cleared. SCU Crowd reacting. LV Matthews again. He rounds the back takes the ball right up to the goal, centres. The goalkeeper misses it but the chance goes begging. SV Crowd. End of game. SV Teams shaking hands. CU Stanley Matthews walking off with the English team (not looking particularly cheerful). SV Back view, Stanley Matthews walking off with the English team (not looking particularly cheerful). Football match between England and Germany finishes victoriously fro England.
