The original Renault Espace launched in 1984 was a pioneering vehicle that created the minivan segment as we know it today. Nearly 40 years later, Renault has completely reinvented the Espace for 2024 as a stylish midsize SUV with seating for up to seven. While it ditches the boxy minivan shape, Renault says the all-new Espace remains true to its roots by offering a spacious and versatile interior focused on passenger comfort.

The 2024 Espace's exterior design gives it a much more modern and athletic look compared to its predecessors. Up front, it wears Renault's latest design language with sleek LED headlights and a large diamond-patterned grille. The sculpted hood features crisp character lines that flow into the raked windshield and a sloping roofline. Bulging fenders, chrome window trim, and dual exhaust tips add an upscale look.

For the top Esprit Alpine trim, Renault adds blacked-out trim pieces and sportier styling cues borrowed from its Alpine performance sub-brand. This range-topper rolls on larger 21-inch wheels pushed closer to the corners for a more planted stance.

Inside, the Espace combines premium materials like wood, aluminum, and Nappa leather appointments to create an airy and luxurious cabin atmosphere. Renault says it has class-leading space for passengers and cargo thanks to its large footprint on Renault-Nissan's CMF-CD platform. Clever packaging allows plenty of legroom even in the third row.

A huge panoramic glass roof that measures over 1 square meter bathes the interior in natural light. Available tech ranges from a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster to a massive 32-inch curved 8K display for infotainment - one of the largest ever fitted to a production vehicle.

Under the hood, the 2024 Espace launches with a 200 horsepower E-Tech hybrid powertrain that promises exceptional efficiency. Renault says it can achieve up to 1,100 km of range thanks to ultra-low fuel consumption of just 4.6L/100km and CO2 emissions as low as 104 g/km. The E-Tech system combines a 1.8L gas engine with two electric motors and a small 2kWh battery pack.

While we don't have U.S. pricing yet, the all-new 2024 Renault Espace goes on sale in Europe this spring carrying a premium over the outgoing model. It represents a bold reinvention of an iconic nameplate as Renault aims to give buyers a more stylish and high-tech alternative to traditional three-row crossovers and minivans.
