The Matrix 4 could end up being a sequel and a prequel at the same time! Subscribe to our channel: http://bit.ly/Subscribe-to-Screenrant

Warner Bros pulled the rug from under fans recently when they announced that The Matrix 4 is happening and that it will serve as a proper sequel to the original three films and not be a reboot as previously reported. Returning to the cyberpunk world is Keanu Reeves as Neo, Carrie Anne Moss as Trinity and Lana Wachowski to direct the feature. But how on earth does the Matrix 4 work if Neo and Trinity didn’t survive the events of The Matrix Revolutions?

There are a few possibilities out there to explain this unexpected return. Some of them are deep and make a lot of sense within the confusing rules established in the Matrix; others are fun but downright crazy-such as how Neo is John Wick. But in all seriousness, there are some interesting ways that Neo and Trinity could return.

One of them is that the versions we’ll see in this film are not the same versions that we saw in the original trilogy. Keanu’s Neo wasn’t the first One but we don’t know if the versions of the One before him looked like him too. If that’s the case, Neo will return as the latest version of him. This theory also explains why the Oracle has the ability of foresight.

Another possibility is that Neo met his end while in the Matrix and some of his code may have been left behind in the cache. From there, Neo could bring back Trinity or even reprogram her. There is a strong possibility that we’ll see a young version of Morpheus in this seventh iteration of the Matix and that Neo will serve as a mentor to him this time around as a new danger threatens the stability of Sati’s version of The Matrix. Interesting times indeed. Now, let’s see how deep the rabbit hole really goes.
