So another job with the home made line boring machine. This time, line boring a worn out JCB tool carrier headstock.
First job was to make some more mounting plates to hold the bearing housings as the previously made ones weren’t suitable.
After cnc plasma cutting out the new plates, they were put in the lathe to bore out the hub centre then the bolt holes drilled and tapped.
Next was to align the boring bar with the worn holes using alignment cones, weld on the bolts to hold the mounting plates, then fit the line boring machine.
After the holes were pre cut to make the holes round again and to clean them up, they were welder round by hand. 3 runs were applied to ensure enough weld.
The line borer was mounted back on again and the holes cut out to final size.
It was then discovered that the holes were slightly lower than original so the bolt to hold the pin in wouldn’t fit. This had to be welded up and re drill.

Thanks for watching!
