Victorians & Edwardians considered the drop skirt hygienic as it reduced the weight of unnecessary clothes by combining two essential components in dressing. From an economical point of view the advantage of the drop skirt was be made to do service for several gowns. Come travel down Victorian and Edwardian fashion history costume as I construct an actual 19th century era foundation garment for the various walking skirts styles and dress gowns.
