0:00 - Intro

BAD:

0:29 - Price

At least for 2023 while they all have turbo V8s and pricing data available
The M5 is due for a new gen featuring a hybrid V8
And the next E63 we’ll see will pack a 4 cylinder
But as they sit currently
This car is a 2023
2024 starts at $128k
2023 M5 started at ~110k
2023 E63 AMG start ~ $114k
Which is shocking to see the Audi so much more than the others..but in truth the RS7 is more expensive than it’s own kin too
RS6 starts $126k - 2k less
eTron GT, which has similar power and performance, starts $106k

1:29 - Relative performance

The RS7 and RS6 twins are making 591 hp and about the same number in torque
And they’re getting to 60 in a shade over 3.5 seconds
The AMG is over 600 hp
And so is the M5, even in non-Comp trim
And both are closer to 3 seconds flat to 60
And both are a bit more dynamic, louder, and more unhinged…if you’re into that sort of thing

2:32 - Overly subtle Interior design

Another classic Audi personality trait…the subtlety

Sure you have an RS button on your wheel and it says RS at the bottom, but it’s just a little subdued…but hey some people like that!

3:07 - Too simple

This is kind of partner point to what we just talked about, but less specifically on the design and more about the little tech details
Boring ambient light
No crazy tech gimmicks - BMWs have drift mode now

GOOD:

3:49 - Daily drive

The Audi thing I love is the duality of the personality

The M car and AMG don’t ease back and JUST become luxury cars
They’re kind of always nudging you to drive harder…which could be a real problem for your license

The RS7 with its air suspension relaxes way better and just becomes an A7 when you want it to

4:48 - Cargo and practicality

As mentioned this brings liftback practicality
Trunk space is enormous
HUGE fan of this
First gen RS7 one of my fav cars
If you need more trunk space get the RS6

5:19 - Still fun to drive

I knwo we’ve talked a lot about how this car isn’t as fast or crazy as the M car and it’s not as unhinged as the AMG

And it does the comfort thing better than both of them

And I think that starts to paint an unfair image of this car
I don’t say these things to suggest the RS7 ISNT fun - it is!

It handles beautifully

6:31 - Rear seats

Very spacious
Excellent diamond stitching
4 zone climate
Heated seats
Light up seatbelt ports

7:01 - Quality

Very familiar Audi
Same as SQ7, RSQ8, RS6, etc
Excellent built
Exquisite materials
Exposed carbon fiber

7:29 - Engine siblings & Sound

And that’s because the engine you get here is the same engine you get in car royalty

Porsche Panamera Turbo
Porsche Cayenne Turbo
Lambirghini Urus
Bentley Bentayga
And of course Audi’s own RS6, S8, SQ7, RSQ8, etc

8:48 - Lux touches

Heated and cooled seats
massage seats
Heated rear seats
Great leathers and stitching
Big screens for your cluster and infotainment

I mean, it’s never lost on me that this is a luxury car
