Eco-friendly innovation doesn’t always have to involve creating a new technology. Sustainability can be social, too – as Anna Rauhansuu shows us.
Her business, Myssyfarmi, sources raw wool from waste that would usually be tossed aside, to create handmade knitwear and accessories.
They employ almost 100 retired ladies from the surrounding agricultural countryside, creating a close-knit community who do meaningful work long into their later years. Doing something you love every day? Certainly a sustainable way of working.
And, in this rural setting, the cars they drive give them the freedom to do it. As Anna says, “Empowering people is empowering the world.”
