Negotiations to attract the NHL’s Washington Capitals and the NBA’s Washington Wizards to northern Virginia have officially ceased, as confirmed by the city of Alexandria on Wednesday. The proposal for establishing a development district with a new arena for the teams will not progress further. Additionally, Virginia’s House speaker verified that Ted Leonsis, the majority owner of the teams, has decided against relocating them from the District of Columbia.
