The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum celebrates Women’s History Month with a replay of this ‘Tales from the Vault’ with ALPLM Lincoln Historian Dr. Christian McWhirter presenting “From Springfield to Hildene: The Women of the Lincoln Family.”

Using objects from our vast collection, McWhirter explored five generations of women who shaped and preserved the Lincoln family and its legacy. From Abraham Lincoln’s stepmother Sarah Bush Johnston to his great granddaughter Peggy Beckwith, these women lived fascinating lives through some of the most critical years of American history.

Tales from the Vault is a collaboration between the ALPLM, the Lincoln Home National Historic Site and the Illinois State Museum.
