1,700-Degree Lava Oozes Through Street

A wall of molten rock made its way right through a street in La Palma — part of Spain’s Canary Islands. Scientists gauged the surface of the lava to be 980 degrees Centigrade, or 1,796 degrees Fahrenheit. The lava comes from a volcano called La Cumbre Vieja, which has been erupting since September. Ash and debris from Cumbre Vieja has even made its way under the sea, coating nearby marine habitats. Unfortunately, there’s no end in sight for the La Cumbre Vieja’s eruptions.
