Tesla isn’t the only company making futuristic hybrids a reality. Everyone from Mercedes to Porsche is getting in on the action. Lamborghini has even partnered with the Michigan Institute of Technology (MIT) for an over $120 million deal to help them develop the Lamborghini Terzo Millennio-- a $2.5 million hybrid. But there are plenty more hightech hypercars where that came from: the SSC Tuatara might be the fastest hybrid on the road with a more than 400 km/hr top speed, and the Aston Martin Valkyrie pairs 1000 horsepower with a 24k gold exterior.

As hightech hybrids become more popular, so do hybrids with F1 capabilities, from race car wheels to racing seats and of course, superspeed acceleration. It’s no wonder that the people who designed these cars, like Christian Von Koenigsegg who developed the Koenigsegg Gemera, are worth hundreds of millions of dollars. From the $2.7 million Mercedes-AMG Project ONE to the surprisingly affordable Nikola Badger cybertruck, these hybrids are getting less and less predictable and much more creative. But with maintenance costs of up to $11,000 annually, they’re definitely not for everyone. For all the details on the expensive technology going into these supercars, as well as their electric-only capabilities and unbelievable speeds, check out our video. Just don’t forget to stick around to the end for all the details on the fastest hybrid yet-- and a look inside the mind of a designer who has worked with everyone from Ferrari to Maserati in his mission to make a $2 million hybrid totally worth it.
